October 31st, "Come on Mom it's getting dark, can we go trick or treating?!" Our neighborhood was so sparse that we would make our rounds close to home then drive to the neighborhoods in town. Halloween isn't always about candy; it's about having fun and seeing the other little people in their costumes, running and acting silly. One house we went to had a lawn so nicely manicured, I told my son to be sure to walk on the driveway and then on the walkway to the front door. He followed the other children, got is candy and politely said thank you, then...with his jack-o-lantern bucket of goodies in hand, he drops to the ground and rolls down the hill to the car!! His little legs and arms waving and the candy scattering all over the lawn; he opens the car door, "Mom, can I go to the next house by myself? You can stay here." I watch my son make his rounds gathering more candy and when finished he stood at the end of the driveway motioning for me to come on and he's hollering, "Yo Mom!"
