What does it mean to serve? You do for others, sometimes for compensation. For others, it is a willingness to do for others without thought for ones self. There once was a noble and wise man named King Benjamin. He had a great thing going on in his kingdom. He was a great military leader, he got rid of unrest and he lifted his people in spirit because he served them. He also taught them to serve one another. There is greater power in this concept. Not only did he teach them love through service but a person would have more self esteem and respect just by seeing to the needs of others. Put other's needs before your own. Where have I heard that before? If all you accomplish in a day is a smile for someone, then you habe done a great deed. Set a goal each day and see what you can do for others. Let the Holy Spirit guide and we will accomplish great acts of service. Smile, hold the door for someone, take a neighbor to the store, bake some cookies for the mailperson, sweep someone's driveway or sidewalk, change a lightbulb, read a favorite book to a youngster, make someone's favorite dessert.....etc. Got the picture?1
