Music touches my soul. I am so grateful to my Mom for sharing so many kinds of different music with us. Since we were little she would play Beethoven and Mozart on our record player and then onto "elevator music" when we grew up a little bit more. Since I've grown up a bit, I love most kinds of music. I still enjoy the classics and Placido Domingo, but I've added music from early days like the "big band sounds" and people like Lou Rawls, Sam Cooke and The Temptations. Then to groups like Dave Clarke Five, Simon and Garfunkel, Gary Puckett and Foreigner. And people like Kenny Rogers and Linda Ronstadt. When I heard Linda sing with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, who are both great singers on their own, it was a stand still moment for me. That's what happened when I heard on the Mac Davis show, Dolly Parton, Donna Summer, Mac Davis and Tom Jones sing with a choir behind singing gospel...WOW. That was really something. The Star Spangled Banner has always moved me, but when Whitney Houston sang, it was a stand still, goose bump, tears welling moment. As is the Tabernacle Choir singing Handel's Messiah Hallelujah Chorus. Music has a way of going straight to the very soul of man. I know I've only named a few people, but as you can see, there are so many talented people that bring joy to the rest of us through their music. If words alone can't accomplish the task...music will and carry it to the heart.
